Today we are going to talk about chakras.  Chakras are energy points within the body, also called "centers of energy". While we have many chakras within our energy field, there are seven points we focus on, since they are located around our physical bodies. These seven chakras include the Crown (head), Third Eye( forehead above the bridge of the nose), Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus (just below the sternum), Sacral( just below the navel), and Root chakra (at the base of the spine).

There are three stages of Chakras. These include overactive, balanced, and under active. When the chakras are not in the balanced field, it can manifest itself in physical and psychological ailments.

Crown Chakra

The Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head. This chakra represents spiritual connection to the Divine.  The Crown Chakra is our connection to all that is. The colors associated with the Crown Chakra is violet and white. When you have a balanced Crown Chakra, you may feel mental clarity, a sense of peacefulness, connected to other people and the universe.

Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra is located in between the eyebrows or just above. It is associated with intuition and knowledge. The Third Eye Chakra is your "sixth sense". When you have a balanced Third Eye, you have a greater understanding of the world around you. Your memory becomes sharper and your tendency to think and act calmly is at its optimum. The color associated with the Third Eye Chakra is Purple. When your Third Eye Chakra is imbalanced, you may experience indecision, anxiety, and become mentally drained.

Throat Chakra

The Throat Chakra is located at the throat. It is known to be associated with communication and truth. The color associated with the Throat Chakra is usually Blue. When your Throat Chakra is imbalanced, you may experience loss of control over your words, your words sound hurtful, and the inability to speak your truth. When you have a balanced Throat Chakra, you are more affirmed about your purpose, speaking up comes naturally to you, and your thoughts and feelings come out precisely without misunderstanding form others.

Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra is located in the center of your chest. It is associated with love and relationships. The color that represents the Heart Chakra is usually Green or Pink. When you have a balanced Heart Chakra you experience love and compassion for others and treat others with unconditional affection. When your Heart Chakra is imbalanced, you may experience jealousy, inability to control your emotions, lack of empathy for other, and you may find it hard to keep relationships.

Solar Plexus Chakra

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located under the sternum. It is associated with your sense of self, personal identity, sense of purpose, and digestion. Signs of a blocked Solar Plexus includes poor self esteem, lack of direction, aggressiveness, difficulty in self expression, and having a victim's mentality. The color associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra is yellow.

Sacral chakra

The Sacral Chakra is located beneath the belly button. The Sacral Chakra represents creativity, fertility and intimacy, and the divine feminine. The color associated with the Sacral Chakra is redm when your Sacral Chakra is blocked you may be experiencing the inability to be intimate, feelings of repression or sadness, anxiety, isolation and detachment.

Root Chakra

The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine. It represents your sense of security, your presence in the world by helping you stay grounded, and your ability to sense and smell. When your Root Chakra is balanced, you will experience feelings of vitality and satisfaction while striving to meet the needs to survive. When your Root Chakra is imbalanced, you will experience feelings of anxiety, unaccomplished, less grounded, and feelings of fear. The color associated with the Root Chakra is red, brown, and other earthly colors.

Balancing Your Chakras

Balancing your chakras involves aligning and harmonizing the seven main energy points in your body with different physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects. When our chakras are imbalanced, either under active or overactive, we can balance them by doing something as simple as saying affirmations. Affirmations such as "I am worthy of love" or "I am one with the earth" can help balance your chakras. If you recognize the chakra that may be blocked, practice affirmations related to that chakra. There is no right or wrong affirmation to say, as long as it feels right to you.  Other ways to balance them, is to practice gratitude. Gratitude is a powerful tool to help you release any blockages that may be slowing you down. Being in nature can also help with blockages.

Mediation can assist in balancing your chakras. There are many guided meditations on YouTube to help you. Also there are many resources with meditation music that can also assist you in getting into that trance of mediation.

Yoga is also very helpful in assisting in clearing your chakras. Different oyga poses such as the Warrior Pose is good for clearing the Root Chakra and the Camel Pose is good for clearing the Heart Chakra.
